Mission Statement:

Momazons is a national organization for lesbian mothers and for lesbians who want children in their lives. We provide an oportunity for lesbians and our fireindsd to explor options in bearing, adoptng, raising or being involved with children. Momazons facilitates connections betwen lesbian mothers seeking camaraderie, information and support. We encourage discussions about the impact of our families on our communities. We support the diversity in the lesbian mothering community and are working to create a group that includes the many differnet ways lesbians choose and have chosen to include children in our lives.

This book was created to celebrate each family, and to allow each family to create a lasting collection of memories of their first year together. HEARTS AND HANDS is specifically designed for any family ... Lesbian or not; parenting alone, or not; one child or multiples; religious (various); or not; infant, or not. It is set up in a notebook style format, allowing your family to keep the pages which are relevant to them, and to remove the pages their family would not use.

Inside this book you will find pages celebrating various holidays and observances, acknowledging the important days, special times, and holidays that are importnat to other people and other cultures. This book is created with respect for all families, encouraging each family to remember that we all are different, and that we appreciate and value the multiple and various backgrounds, cultures and teraditions which makes each family unique.

There's no family tree, no mom/dad or grandma/grandpa labels. You get 20 identical pages called "My People." These pages are used by anyone the "parent(s)" identify as "family" or "extended family" (excuse the labels, please). There is a frame to place a photograph of the special person, and then an area to trace the outline of their hand. Inside their hand, we have "suggested" they write a personal message to the child being celebrated. HEARTS AND HANDS includes pages for journaling. Twelve months of calendar pages allow you to notate family events and activities. We hope you enjoy creating this wonderful scrapbook of your first year together!
